FAQ

  • Which sessions are live and which are recorded

    Classes 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 will be recorded. There will also be two recorded bonus sessions.

  • What size journal will we be using?

    I will be using a 6x9 journal made from 9x12 watercolor paper. You are invited to use any size that feels comfortable. I find a 9x12 spread gives me just the right amount of space to express and explore.

  • On the supplies, what will be needed for the first class?

    During the first class, we will be using watercolor paint and collage imagery. Supplies needed for these activities would be needed, scissors, glue stick, collage imagery, cups of water, paper towels, palette for mixing paint if desired. I encourage you to also have some mark making tools available, this can be paint pens, gel pens, markers or a thick black or white pen. I am working on putting a supply kit together, but it is taking time to source supplies affordably.

  • Paintbrushes, any particular size or style

    Any size you like to use. A round 6, 7, or 8 brush would be perfect. A second large brush such as a flat or mop brush would be helpful.

  • Do I need to know how to draw?

    Absolutely not! This course is designed to help you connect with and explore your creative intuition without getting caught in the frustrating space of perfecting drawing skills.

  • What types of images will I need?

    I encourage you to have either a few magazines or photography books available for collage material. Access to a printer and the internet will also work for sourcing images to collage. Laser or inkjet is fine. At times we will use family photos. Please do not use originals. Scan and print copies of your treasured pictures

  • What video platform will we be using?

    We will be using Zoom. Each Monday you will receive an email with a module from the Self Care Workbook and a link to that week's Zoom meeting. For the weeks there is a recorded session, there will be a link to meet on Friday, 7 pm-9pm for Open Studio time, to create and connect.

  • What types of art will we be making?

    We will be creating art journal spreads using a technique called SoulPages, developed by Rakefet Hadar. Salina is a certified SoulPages Mentor.

  • How much time will be spent making art vs non art things?

    This is an art focused class. Each class will have the following general structure: Introduction to theme, approx. 15 minutes Guided & Interactive Art Practice, approx 75 minutes Discussion of process, sharing work, approx 30 minutes
